“Am I carrying you, or can you hop for the next half mile?” Benji wasn’t exactly sure he could carry Ethan all the way back to the car he’d left behind a defunct Taco Bell, but surely hopping would jostle his leg too much.
Apparently Ethan didn’t think so because he immediately pulled himself away from Benji to take a step on his own. Benji, quite used to dealing with Ethan’s nonsense, caught him securely when he fell.
“Nevermind,” Benji said. “You obviously can’t be trusted to not do stupid things even while incredibly injured. I don’t know why I thought differently. Your freedom of choice has been revoked.”
