Ratio pushes a heavy sigh again, keeping his nose close to his strained mating gland and murmuring vaguely. "Don't you start."
Ah, Aventurine hasn't even started yet. A delicate small smile appears on his face in the reflection, and they both know his next words won't do any good. "Really? How odd. And here I thought you'd notice that scent for sure—after all, I spent quite a long time in the shower thinking about today's meeting."
And if Aventurine hadn't let out a sigh just out of spite when the muscular arm wrapped around his waist in a bruising grip, then the rough feeling of a hand on his neck pressing his marked gland into submission made his knees shake. He meets a furious stare in the reflection. "Don't. You. Start."
Aventurine only gives back a cocky smirk before things start to fall apart.
Sometimes provoking is the best cure, or Aventurine of Stratagems is showing a method how to deal with an (very principal) alpha in rut.

Summary
He thought about his home, he thought about what awaited him. He thought about Diamond's mission he gave him recently, he thought about Opal's words he said to him this past week. He thought about Ratio and how he would explain their future mission, how he would explain anything from that. He thought about all of this and nothing at all, and eventually, his body and subconscious found their way back on their own, even if Aventurine didn’t remember any of it.
Somehow, he found himself on the threshold of Ratio's house, and his mind cleared. It became easier to breathe.
And now, Aventurine listens to the steady heartbeat, leaning on Ratio's chest until he decides to break the peaceful silence. "It was raining today."
"Indeed, it was."
or, it is raining in Pier Point, Aventurine reminded by his past, and Dr. Ratio always knows how to provide a right comfort.

He spent over four weeks recollecting every detail of Alhaitham's face in his memories and just drawing in his sketchbook to remember, remember, remember it. He felt the ghost of his presence every time he brewed a new kind of coffee (and then briefly noted the name of each favorite ones in his diary to order it back home) and then caught the flashes of his brief smirk as he read every new novel. The golden keys of faraway home never disappeared from his sight, no matter how hard he tried to ignore it.
This lingering feeling of longing, love, and inner fear was a new experience for Kaveh despite his ability to know a wide range of senses. It both unnerved him and brought a gentle serenity, a kind of grounding, like a memory of the weight of Alhaitham's strong and dry hands on his back.
It was hard. It was necessary.
