The distance made her heart ache. She was acutely aware of him at all times. Knew that, even now, he was sitting in a corner of the parlor, reading more of the archives. He craved the empty rooms as much as she did, the deafening silence of the night. The dissolution of the day. But in the dark, the temptation grew.
