Summary
He tries to turn, moving out of the veil and through the mist, as if seeing through someone else’s glasses. Gradually, his vision clears, though it remains pitch dark. A small light appears, growing larger, until it forms into a person.
And there she is. Her fringe is back, like seventh year.

Summary
He turned to look back over his shoulder, not seeing the creeping cat on his tail, and barrelled around the last corner before the staircases.
SLAM!
The wind rushed out of him. Suddenly, he was falling, something soft landing underneath him, tangling with his legs and squeaking sharply. He rolled as he hit the ground hard, and the soft squeaking thing was pulled above him, limbs wrapped together.
James groaned, catching his breath and pushing his glasses back into place. He reoriented himself quickly, opening his eyes to see that yes, he had collided with another student, and yes, they had taken quite a big tumble together, and yes, because he was just that damned lucky and the fates really owed him for the failure of a prank that evening, it was Lily Evans lying on top of him.

“Maybe I’m waiting for the right one,” he says, shrugging lightly, his gaze steady and intent on her.
The words catch her off guard, landing heavily in her chest. She forces a laugh, rolling her eyes as though to wave it away. “That’s a bit idealistic, don’t you think?”
James nods thoughtfully. “Most of the time, yeah. But sometimes… I don’t know. Sometimes I think it’s possible.”
