Summary
It’s all about Tom these days, isn’t it? Every waking hour of Greg’s being is dictated by Tom one way or another, and the punchline is that it’s not even enough. Missing Tom when he’s right in front of Greg is not only inconceivable but also pathetic and so Greg makes it a point to himself that fucking Lukas Mattson isn’t in any capacity about Tom.
Until it inevitably is. Until Greg’s ennuie and morbid curiosity make him pick up Tom’s call while being on top of Lukas.
Standing outside Tom’s apartment complex the following morning, Greg has to choose a line of defence. Or offence, really. He’s not terribly sure of how it’ll go.

Summary
"Oh no, not this fucker," Shiv gasps in disbelief.
"Who?" Elaine looks around them in question.Thankfully, there's no Tom in sight. But there's a ludicrously tall man entering the room that very moment. Late twenties to early thirties, legs for days, dressed in navy wool trousers and a white button up, no tie - overall rather tasteful despite the simplicity. Somewhat relaxed and almost shaggy hair that went nicely with his smart casual attire. A particularly childish expression, huge clueless eyes roaming the room. What on earth this Bambi could do to piss Shiv off is a mystery to Elaine. But before she could ask just that, they are approached by Roman.
"Not this sick puppy? Show me the idiot who let him in and I’ll maybe do something about it…"

(Elaine is at her first Roy-adjacent function, Greg is there too. Gossip and misunderstandings ensue.)

They still hit it off rather easily, sharing their woes and sorrows of dating in New York and missing their homes.

Summary
There was another blip signaling a new text from Greg and Shiv read out in a fake dreamy voice: “Dear Tom, please listen to this song, it makes me think of you-”
“Uh-huh,” Tom chuckled, choosing to join in on the joke, but something about her nonchalance made him uneasy. “What does it really say?”
“Ugh, some song you allegedly like, a cover of it from some show? I don’t know.” He felt something warm bloom inside despite her clear disinterest. Greg, what a silly goose. They’ve parted mere twenty minutes ago.
“Put it on,” he said, uncharacteristically decisive, and gently took her free hand in his, putting the other one on her waist. It was his home, it was his wife and he was allowed to have nice things. “Put it on, it’s gonna be fun.”
--
(After a classic Waystar Two night out Tom finds himself in particularly tender and giddy mood, reaching his hand out to Shiv in a light hearted attempt to dance away their recent argument. Too bad that when Shiv accepts his hand the song Tom puts on turns out to be a sad ass ukulele cover of Hey Ya! sent to him by Greg)

“Grandpa just died.” It sounds so strange, said out loud. Almost like it shouldn’t be possible to make a statement of fact about something so monumental. Except it doesn’t feel monumental. It doesn’t feel like anything."
Wherein a coat is never just a coat, and Ewan's death has unexpected repercussions for Greg - and by extension, for Tom.

Summary
“I just, you know—“ he says, swallowing, “It feels good to do good, for once? To experience a success?”
“Yeah, yeah, Greg, so you made the big boss happy for once, what do you want, exactly? A fucking congratulatory handy?”
Greg smiles awkwardly, his lips pressing together before he speaks, “Ha, yeah, sure, sounds great, Tom,” he says, joking despite the heat that creeps up the back of his neck like vines.
Tom suddenly goes serious, in that way that he does, like all the humour gets sucked out of him at once, “Yeah? That what you want, you fucking pervert?”

OR: This fic came to me as a vision when I was thinking about the most canon way tomgreg could hook up in S4.

The first thing your soulmate says in your presence writes itself on your skin as they say it, usually on your chest, arm, or hand, or—if you’re very unlucky—on your face.
