Summary
Kaveh shows him another creation of his youth - pieces of a shattered mirror, cut to perfect shapes, arranged to fit onto a sphere. “I used to hang it up in my room at the spot where the sun shone in through a hole in the wall.” he says, a wondrous look in his eyes. “The light bounced off of it in fascinating colours. It was breathtaking. It made these– these patterns on the walls and ceiling, and I used to just lie on my bed in the afternoon and stare up at the different colours.”
Aether looks into the rondure of reflections and momentarily freezes. Looking back at him were hundreds of fragments of her, over and over again. Quietly, he places it back into the box.
(Even if the mind forgets, the body remembers. Aether thinks he has forgotten her entirely.)
