His hand shakes as he tries to light the spliff Byers’ friend had palmed him with a pat on the back and a hazy smile, muttering something near indecipherable about purple palm tree delight. Steve reaches up, either to pluck the lighter from his grip or to hold Eddie’s hand steady in his, but the light catches before he has the chance to, and Eddie elbows him away instead, feeling vaguely sick to his stomach.
He inhales once, and again, and tries not to think about it.

“I could help.”
Eddie blinks at him. In some distant, faraway corner of his mind, Richie’s sure he can hear screaming.
“I mean-” Richie starts, his mouth fully just running away with the thing. “I mean, I could help you. With the-” and now his hands are getting in on the action too, the traitors, gesturing vaguely—obscenely—in the direction of Eddie’s crotch.
Eddie stares at him.
“You- what?”
“I can help you get off,” Richie’s mouth says, slow and clear and a little too loud. “If- if that’s something you’d want.”
(Eddie leaves Derry the second time with another cast on his arm. Richie lends a hand.)

Summary
Warmed by the happy company of friends and not a little bit of wine, Eddie can’t help how his gaze seems to wander ever over to Richie. Bathed as he is in the soft glow of the Christmas tree, the effect is quite handsome even despite the novelty reindeer antlers that Richie has been wearing all evening. The combination of all the wine, Richie’s appealingly broad shoulders, and the looming threat of mistletoe has some distant corner of Eddie’s mind screaming a muted warning, Danger, Will Robinson!
Eddie ignores it and gets another drink.

Eddie has always, always loved Richie’s hands, large and masculine. He’d spent years of his adolescence trying to figure out how to get Richie’s hands on him, in any capacity, and spent the last few months doing the same, if not more obviously and much more successfully. They’re spread wide on Eddie’s hips now, holding him in place.
Eddie laughs, a little shakily, and turns his head to look back at Richie over his shoulder, “Richie, what-”

Richie looks down at his own body and like the bed and the bedroom before it, he doesn’t recognize what he sees.
A broken sound escapes his lips and he slaps his hand to his mouth. Then he pulls his hand away, looks at it again, and slaps it back in place before his mouth gets any smart ideas.
“What the fuck,” he says against his not-hand.
