Summary
The last person he expects to see when he walks into detention is Gale-fucking-Cleven.
It’s not that he doesn’t like the guy; it’s just that he finds how perfect he is to be incredibly annoying. Him and his cheerleader girlfriend both look liked they walked right out of a literal magazine. And the fact that he’s the student body president, captain of the football team, and has been Homecoming King for the last two years was just doing too much in John’s opinion. Not to mention that blinding movie-star smile, with those two rows of flawless white teeth John swears he’s seen literally twinkle and a fan club to match those Hollywood-worthy good looks.
Well… now that he thinks about it, you could probably say he doesn’t like the guy.

He reached up with trembling hands to straighten out the lapels of Buck’s black and white suit while the younger man quietly fixed his cuffs links. They were close enough that Gale’s cologne was making his head spin.
“If things were different,” He swallowed hard and his mouth went dry with dread, but he had to ask. He had to know. “If there was a place where-where it didn't matter…”
He felt the blissful ignorance of the silence between them shatter like glass at his words. Buck froze in his movements. John’s grip on the front of his suit tightened. He didn’t let go when Gale tried to take a step back. He couldn’t just yet. He could feel Buck’s heart pounding through his pressed dress shirt and he closed his eyes to focus on the strong, now unsteady beats.
“Would you be with me?"
"That place doesn't exist, John.”

Summary
“Missed you the other night,” Bucky says, cheek resting on the handrail, peering up the stairs.
Gale hikes his bag of groceries up a little higher and looks back. The other night was two and a half weeks ago, and Gale’s not seen Bucky since. He stays in instead, reading And Quiet Flows the Don and eating mac and cheese emptied from a can. He talks with his cousin on the phone about her upcoming wedding and Gale tries not to think about how he wishes her fiance would die.

Bucky would go wherever Buck asked him to be. Be it in Wyoming or in fucking space, he would have made it there.
-Buck wants to do his wedding right. Bucky wants to do right by him.
But also: Bucky wants Buck to be happy. Buck wants Bucky to be happy.
And that is a little more difficult to get done.

“Jesus Christ, Buck,” Croz’s voice beside breaks him out of his almost trance.
Buck looks over to his friend, it’s not that he forgot he was there - more was temporarily uninterested in his presence. He raises an eyebrow in question of the statement.
“You officially have the worst taste in men.”
He lets out a small laugh, and takes an inconspicuous sip from his glass of ginger beer.
“What?”
“I mean come on, that guy?” Croz nods back to the bar.
Gale shrugs, “I didn’t say anything.”
“You didn’t need to. You haven’t stopped looking at him since he walked in.”
Sucking in a breath Buck leans back in his chair casually.
“So what?”
“So… That boy is nothing but trouble.”
It’s not like Buck doesn’t agree, trouble is practically written on his forehead, but what so wrong with that? He seems fun, and Gale isn’t opposed to a bit of fun, it’s not like he needs to marry the man.
