Summary
Mycroft knew, ostensibly, that something was not congruent, but when he was seven, it struck him on a deeper level.
‘Are you real?’ he asks, looking up from his notepad. He’d thought Greg had put that red mark on the page, but he can’t quite remember now. Maybe it was him. The pen is by his elbow, after all, and Greg is across the room at the windowsill.

Summary
Lestrade became engaged at age five. He's six by the time he meets the baby, is able to hold him in his arms. His name is Mycroft – yes, actually Mycroft – and he doesn’t cry like they’d warned him he might.

Summary
It all seemed perfectly reasonable. He would be paid a significant sum for each evening or event he spent with the client that chose him and though it was likely they would press for him to provide more intimate services, he was told how best to avoid it and thus avoid straying into the illegal pitfalls of the escort service. It wasn’t illegal for a bloke to go out for a drink and conversation just because he was paid to do it was it?

Summary
He realised that some officers were able to maintain reasonably healthy relationships and remain on the force, but he had tried that. He was too intense, too passionate, to balance his life to the satisfaction of a partner, and when given the choice between a partner and his job he had chosen his job. Every time.
