Summary
The boy seemed terrified, this Leia would admit. He stood frozen in place, a mockery of respect, as his eyes darted around the room. Tattered clothes hung loosely from the bones of his shoulders, exposing the canvas of scars across his skeletal arms. It seemed wrong, fundamentally so, that Darth Vader could feel fear at all, and yet the force sang with the truth of it.
It was a cruel trick to play, Leia thought, showing himself to her as a child, playing on her instincts to gain sympathy for all he had done. She would not pity him, Leia decided, knowing what he would become.

At the twilight of the Republic and the birth of the Empire, Padmé Amidala Naberrie Skywalker ran away.
Fled for her life and left her husband behind.
It was the pain shining in Obi-wan’s heartbroken eyes that did it, the way his voice cracked and broke as he told her about the attack on the Jedi temple, at what he’d seen Anakin do.
She slipped out of his arms just before Coruscant’s weather controls dragged dawn across the horizon. He was finally asleep. Deeply enough not to notice the bed’s weight shift. Dressed simply, Padmé pulled a hood over her head and sprinted up the landing ramp of her ship as if her life depended on it.
She was running, she was hiding.

Summary
As if the comment Obi-Wan had made to Luke about Anakin 'dying' when he became Darth Vader was literally true, a newly dead Anakin Skywalker wakes in a new world—given the appearance of his twenty-three year old self. However, the self-sacrifice that ended his life has also given Anakin an unexpected boon that he isn't sure he can accept. Worse, it comes with conditions that might just be impossible to meet. A moment of redemption is one thing, but a full reformation another entirely. Set immediately after ROTJ.
