He stood with a jarring creak, his stiff plastic limbs struggling to pull him up right. The sound set his teeth on edge. He squeezed his eyes shut for a long moment, steeling himself to move. That noise really was concerning, he swore his limbs were growing more uncooperative by the day. Did he haze to oil them maybe? He lifted an arm up, trying to bend it to bring his hand in front of his face.

“Oh, I’m here again.” Jimmy said, voice so quiet Scott could barely make it out. Even without announcing it so directly Scott knew his husband had just switched with other Jimmy.
It wasn’t just his words that clued Scott in this time, his demeanor shifted suddenly and drastically. His soft, barely audible voice was so starkly different to the confident, loud man Scott had married. Jimmy seemed to shrink too, taking up less space, hunching over and lurking in the shadows of the room. These changes were always somewhat present during shifts, but today was different. Today it was obvious, today Jimmy was curling into himself, shaking lightly.

“Well,” Scott winces as his cramps seize up again. “Actually, I might just stay at the base for today. Do some farming? Maybe move some things around, make the area look cuter. It’s kind of my whole schtick.” He gestures vaguely, hoping his smile is more convincing than it feels.
Impulse gives him a concerned look.
Probably not, then.
“Are you okay? You look a bit pale.”
“You do?” Gem asks, alarmed, immediately facing him with cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk’s. Scott laughs lightly, and she quickly swallows her food. “You do.”
Or: Scott is on his period without painkillers. Luckily, he has two bandmates willing to do anything to help him feel better, including retrieving his boyfriends for a much needed cuddle session.
