Shota sighed in the mirror. He knew everything would be fine, but there was something weird about the fact that he was getting ready to go to a House of Torture Christmas party, of all things. It’s not like he didn’t know the guys in Ren’s faction; it just felt weird.
“Darling, you ready to go?” Ren peeked his head into the bathroom and smiled at him. He was wearing a nice black button-up and slacks and looked amazing. He knew they didn’t have enough time to do anything, but it didn’t stop his mouth from watering.
“Yeah, I’m ready.” He spritzed himself with some body spray before following Ren to the living room. He grabbed the gift bags and sighed.
“Who is going to be there again?”
“Just the guys, Pieter, and Yoh. It’s not a big thing.”
“It’ll be fun, I promise.”

Summary
Ren took a swig of his highball, letting the noise of his faction chatting wash over him. Sho and Nobu made the trip to meet with them while on tour to help celebrate his birthday. So he knew he wouldn’t get out of it if he tried. Nobu had mentioned off-hand that he could invite Shota, but Shota turned it down and encouraged him to go out still.
He didn’t regret that decision, even though the only person he wanted to be with for his birthday was Shota.

Ren’s eyes fluttered open, and he saw the sunlight filtering through the curtain. He didn’t know when he drifted off to sleep, his book on the bed beside him. It wasn’t really like him to take naps, but he vaguely remembered snuggling with Shota as he read, the other man playing a game on his phone. It was comforting and had put him at ease. He didn’t remember putting his glasses on the nightstand, but they were there.
His heart fluttered, just knowing that the other man put them there for him.

Summary
Kenta wiped the sweat that was forming on his brow, trying to catch his breath. Sparring was hard, and being thrown into it was like floundering in the deep end. He looked up as he drank his water, trying not to make eye contact with Marufuji. It was only the second day, and he already had a weird feeling about the man. Part of him was dreading when he’d have to spar with him, unsure as to why he was so worried about doing so. It was part of the training.
It didn’t change that it felt like something about the other man was off.
“Kobayashi! Marufuji! You two are next!”
