Lan Zhan is struck by a curse that brings him intense physical pain unless he's being touched. He is stoic and tries to hide his suffering. Wei Wuxian is worried and protective. Perhaps they will finally admit their feelings?
Wei Ying rolls his eyes. “Heaven forbid they discover the great Hanguang-jun is not invincible. I suppose I’ll just have to keep touching you all night.”
His words hang in the jingshi’s stillness as they stare at each other. Wangji’s heart thumps far too loudly.
Wei Ying laughs awkwardly and smiles with too many teeth in a way that strangely makes Wangji think of chickens.

Friends make friends stuff all the time, and Jayce did break Viktor's cane. It'd be a nice thing to do. A cane, plus some cool tools, and Jayce will be able to know he's a good friend. He likes this plan.

“We should just get it out of our systems?” Jayce blurts out.

As the night drags on, Jayce and Viktor find themselves struggling to stabilize the arcane crystal. This is only exacerbated by the fact that Viktor is incredibly attractive, and Jayce can't seem to tear his eyes off the Zaunite.
