“Zhongli-xiansheng may be well-read and cultured,” Childe chuckles, filling their teacups again, “but even you can’t know every single story from every corner of the world!”
Zhongli raises a brow. “Will you share this story with me, Childe?” His voice is velvet-smooth, with a glimmer of genuine interest.
Zhongli has always been easy to tempt when it comes to knowledge—stories, history, artefacts, doesn’t matter. The gleam in his beautiful amber eyes whenever something piques his curiosity is undeniable, it’s tempting, it’s something Childe wants to bring as often as he can. And he has enough Mora to do it carelessly.
“Not sure, xiansheng,” Childe teases, leaning closer. “They’re called bedtime stories for a reason. They’re supposed to be told in bed, before sleep. Doesn’t really work anywhere else.”
Zhongli really wants his bedtime story, even if it means luring Childe onto his bed. -

He stood in front of a large glass tank.
It wasn’t the tank, nor the weird technology surrounding it, that seemed to hold the Harbinger's attention. It was the familiar figure that floated in the center of the tank.
The figure’s arms were wrapped loosely around his knees. His clawed hands were black as obsidian up until his wrists, where metal bands were tightly clasped. A long tail, glittering with brown and golden scales, protruded from the figure’s lower back side, and spiraled under him until the fluffy tip rested at the bottom of the tank.
A set of 4 horns, seemingly made from core lapis itself, extended out the top of his head. All 4 horns came to curled tips, except one, which appeared to have had several inches broken off.“Xiansheng.”

Ajax had still yet to present, far past the age it was common for a person's secondary gender to show. It had taken numerous visits and tests before a team of top leading doctors could confirm that Ajax was healthy and that he would present as an alpha like the rest of his siblings.

“I know. It is because my heat is approaching.” Zhongli paused in their walking, meaning Childe also drew to a stop. “Can you just tell me why? Perhaps I will understand, if you define for me why - despite all the research, despite all the persuasion - you still hold true to your position of denying me.”
Childe faced Zhongli, and watched him closely. He could see the confusion and the frustration etched into those amber eyes; though he did not think it was aimed at him, but rather the situation that they found themselves to be in. “I just…” He hesitated, and then kissed Zhongli’s forehead sweetly, “You cannot promise me that it is not your instincts, talking.”
