    “Lan Zhan, sweetheart,” Wei Ying says softly, stroking a hand atop the pile of blankets currently housing his best friend. “Come out. I’m gonna take your temperature.”

    There is a groan from within, but then the blanket mound shifts and Lan Zhan’s head emerges, hair spilling in knots across his face. Wei Ying has seen him drunk only once, and even then he had looked more put together than this.

    Every other time, it’s been Lan Zhan looking after Wei Ying. Now Lan Zhan needs some tender loving care of his own, and Wei Ying is helpless to do anything but offer it to him.

    “I’m not hungry anymore either,” Wei Wuxian continues. “I’ve decided that I don’t actually need to eat dinner. Who needs winter melon soup when bathroom tap water has such a deliciously sulfurous depth of flavor? Ugh—I can’t see anything, where are those damn towels—”

    A paper towel is shoved into Wei Wuxian’s hand.

    “Oh, thanks—”

    “I do not think drinking that water is advisable,” says a voice that is definitely not Jiang Cheng’s.

    Or, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji meet in a restaurant bathroom after they both go there to escape from their uncomfortable family dinner gatherings.
