Summary
A has sat back down, eyes closed. Examiner Z’s hand on his arm is no longer a way to get his attention but a crutch to keep him upright. Something tugs in Qin Jiu’s chest and he’s moving forward before he realizes it.
The sound of his brisk footsteps has A snapping his eyes open again.
“Gin. What are you still doing here?”
Instead of replying, Qin Jiu asks sharply, “What’s wrong with you?”
Even Examiner A has moments when he wants to indulge. Just for a fleeting moment.

For the first time, Qin Jiu stood within arm’s reach of Instructor You. He could reach out right now and brush a thumb across those thin eyelids and feel his eyelashes flutter over his fingers. He resisted the urge.
Instead, he said, “You must know about those rumours, right? I have to say, ever since I heard them, I’ve been wondering if Instructor You is as skilled as he is pretty.”

Another trainee piped up a second later. “Hey, does that mean you and Instructor You have never fought? Does Instructor You ever get jealous?”
Such direct questioning prompted more laughter and a few yelled out speculations.
Smirking, Qin Jiu replied, “Fighting is normal between couples, no? As for whether Instructor You ever gets jealous...he’d probably outright kill me before I get the chance to find out.”
So…does our dear Head Examiner ever get jealous?

In that dream, there was warm spring sunlight, busy city streets, the companionship of friends and family, and work to be done. And there was…that person. That person he loved deeply, who loved him deeply in return.
But, where did that person go?
