Summary
Later, as he was sitting on the toilet, he remembered what Steve had said: February. The wedding was in February. Eddie checked his phone, confirming his suspicion.
December 10th, 2023.
“Fuck,” he swore softly, and then again, “Fuck.”
A little over two months until Steve said I do, binding himself to a total stranger. Eddie wasn’t about to let his best friend get snatched up by someone who was likely not good enough for him, let alone someone Eddie had never heard of. Steve was too kind to be taken advantage of like that — too special.
How things had ended up as they had, Eddie couldn’t be sure, but one way or another, he was going to get to the bottom of it.

Summary
They stare at one another for a while, heads turned towards each other as they lay sprawled out on the bed. Steve’s foot, still on the floor, taps out an agitated rhythm.
“Fine,” he eventually concedes, shoving himself up onto his elbows.
“Fine?” Eddie parrots back.
Steve shrugs. “I’ll pretend to be gay. I’ll come out to them.” Eddie’s eyes widen a bit and for a second it looks like he wants to backpedal and take back his suggestion, but Steve barrels on before he can. “But if you think I’m doing this alone you’re crazy. You’ve got to be there to tell them it was all your stupid idea of a prank if they start to go bananas.”
Eddie props himself up on his arms as well, one eyebrow raised. He considers that for a moment, tipping his head to the side. After a good five seconds a devilish grin starts to pull at his lips. “I’ll do you one better, Harrington,” he says. “I’ll be there. And I’ll tell them it was all my dumb idea if they get crazy on you–which they won’t.” He snickers. “But…I’ll be there as your boyfriend.”

It's a stark difference Eddie clearly feels some kind of way about.
But Steve doesn't see a monster when he looks at Eddie Munson, not really, not at all.
