Wilhelm stopped at the other end of the table and turned to face them, placing his hands on the table top. “And, because we’re the best, I expect us to act the best too. We’re gentleman after all—”
Across the table, Henry snorted into his glass.
“—and so I expect a clean slaughter. No blood on our hands.”
There were some hums of agreement along the table, a few people laughing here and there as they nudged each other.
Wilhelm smiled, all teeth, and pounded the table once before standing up. “Let’s remind Sprucewood who the best house is. Again.”
Cheers followed this, a few people—including Walter and Alex—even drumming on the table and laughing after a moment.
