☆ "That's him?" Mike asks, watching the beautiful man walk through the hallways with a scowl on his face, not sparing him a glance as he strides away.
"Yes, Micheal - Your fiancés brother is known to be...quite the troublemaker." Lucas supplies, hesitating at the last bit, running a hand through uis hair.
"He's been known to sabatoge almost every man who's been known to court Jane - " His eyes go wide, and he quickly coughs into his hand.
"But thats only the um.." his eyes dart around the ballroom, its clear there's no one in the empty room of golden bars and jewels paving the walls, but you never known who might be listening.
"That's only the gossip, sir." Lucas supplies, before turning away to look at the fire-haired maiden that's been trailing Jane.
"is that so.." Mike ponders, the image of the boy replaying through his mind... ☆______________ ☆
Micheal James Wheeler's Arannged Marriage to Jane Hopper was not something he was excited for, by all means. But getting to know her mysterious twin who constantly avoids him is...something else.

“I have to go, actually,” he says finally, though the expression on Mike’s face plainly tells him he knows he’s lying, and had expected the response before it came. “Like, now. Preferably.”
“Oh,” Mike says, decidedly disappointed but not exactly surprised as Will tosses a twenty onto the bar and hops out of his seat in one fluid motion. “Oh, well- wait, Will, hang on, I want to talk to you-”
“Yeah, well,” Will huffs, adjusting the collar of his jacket, “thanks, but I’ve actually had quite enough of hearing about what you want for one lifetime, so. I think I’ll pass on this one.”

"I yelled at you," Mike said plaintively, "On your birthday."
And that—Will froze. He sucked in a breath, and just held it, unsure of what else to do. Shakily, after a second, he let it out again.
"You... you remembered?" He barely breathed out, light flickering to life within his chest.
____Will Byers' birthday is going great. Y'know, except for... all of it. But can Mike fix it all in the end?

Summary
Mike hates this time of year.
The leaves have all fallen, covering the ground like puzzle pieces in their rightful places, so the trees are bare, naked, and dead. It hasn’t yet snowed to round out the rugged edges of the town; there are still sharp edges everywhere Mike looks — and trust him, he looks — and it feels like the atmosphere is eternally toying with him by turning dark with rumbling clouds, only to dissipate within an hour. It also gets dark at four p.m. for no reason other than to piss him off.
The world is, Mike decides, no better now than it was when it was ending.
mike's been living in hawkins since the world stopped ending, even though his friends left him behind.

Today, though, is different, because today, Will is feeling incredibly grateful to have this job. All of a sudden he doesn't mind the sweeping and the dusting and the restocking shelves with books that, quite frankly, aren't to his own taste in any way whatsoever, aside from the tiny comic book section tucked away in the darkest part of the store. He's grateful for the silence and the boredom and the wasting his phone battery scrolling through the Instagram accounts of people he doesn't know or care about.
Because the thing is, if Will didn't have this job, he would have never had the opportunity to lay eyes on the very attractive guy that just walked in, and that, in and of itself, is enough to make him feel, vaguely, like his entire life is complete.

"Um. Right," he answers, sort of forgetting what the question had been. He's too busy watching Will's face under the bright kitchen lights, gaze catching on his cheekbones, on the pretty pink flush against his tanned skin, on his lips- "Right, yeah."
"Right," Will echoes, staring at him like he's grown a second head or something, which at this point would probably be the least weird thing to happen to Mike in his sorry excuse for a life, "To- um. To which part?"
Mike tears his eyes away from Will's lips, feeling a bit dizzy. "What?"
Will looks like he doesn't know whether to hit him again or check him for a head injury. "I asked," he says slowly, still frowning at him, "If you wanted to do this to make your guy jealous, and if you were using the Daniel thing as an excuse, because I don't even like him, really, and- uh."
"Oh," Mike says, clearing his throat quickly and bobbing his head, "Um- yeah, something like that."
In terms of plans, this might not be the worst one Mike's ever had. In terms of execution, well- there might be room for improvement.
