Summary
Yuji had lost count of the number of times Fushiguro had been on the brink of death. The first time had been the moment Yuji had found him after the fighting had ended. On Ieiri-san’s infirmary table, they had almost lost Fushiguro again, even though Ieiri-san had already done her best to heal the most grievous injuries with her innate technique.
Still, they had made it into the end of the week, then the end of the month, all the way into the next year. It had been so long since the last time Fushiguro had suffered cardiac arrest or a sudden cessation in breathing that Yuji couldn’t recall when that had even happened. At long last, Fushiguro’s body was whole, his soul stable, so why wasn’t he back? Why hadn’t he woken up?
What could Yuji do to help?
The desire took root in his mind and sprouted a daring idea quite abruptly. One evening, after another quiet dinner where no one spoke to no one, Yuji thought to himself, I’ll do it.
