Summary
When the baby is born, Shiv doesn’t cry. She screams and bleeds and sweats, but the doctors talk her through it. It’s all a part of the plan – medically-induced labour between four white walls.
The best obstetricians in the country are in this room, and still Shiv feels dread pool deep in her belly. She can’t shake the feeling that her body might betray her. That the stress and growth of the last forty weeks will have all been for nothing, or maybe even worse than nothing. A new deficit, a would-be family in the red.

Summary
“You don’t want to hold onto this company? For my kids? And yours?” how he says it is like he’s paraphrasing something—Roman wonders if it’s something Kendall had told her after he stormed back to the house, when they were next to the pool professing their love for each other of some shit.
“Wouldn’t Tom as CEO—” Kendall stops Roman’s thought with a grin that belonged on a shark or something worse. Some kind of amoral, war-hardened brute looking at his next territory to conquer, by diplomacy or force.
“You can’t be CEO, because you’re not going to be any good at it. Because you killed a kid.” Shiv’s bravado has evaporated, her voice almost on the verge of pleading.
“Oh? You have a higher bar for picking CEO than choosing me to be the father of your child.”
