Summary
All mers were born with a song, a soulmate song. Throughout a mers life they would continuously sing until their voice reached their soulmate. Their voices would harmonize and pull them together instinctually. Only then would a mer feel complete. It's a bit similar to whales in a way. All mers had a song that would lead them to their soulmates.
