It's then that Johnny looks down and realizes that Mrs. Sung is holding a plate of freshly baked cookies. She holds them up to him, and his nostrils flare, the sugary warmth wafting from the plate making his mouth water.
"Mrs. Sung." Johnny is speechless for a moment, genuinely touched. His gaze lifts to meet hers again. "That's so sweet of you. You didn't have to do this."
"Nonsense! It's the least I can do!" She all but pushes the plate into his hands. "Now you go enjoy these."
Johnny takes the plate. "Thank you, Mrs. Sung. I'm absolutely going to. They smell amazing!" He bows his gratitude before turning away.
"Oh, and Johnny?"
He pauses, looking back at the elderly lady over his shoulder. "Yes?"
"There's entirely too many there for one person to eat," she says. "Maybe you can ask that cute boy that lives across from you if he'd like to share?"
OR
A bad snowstorm ruins Johnny's Christmas travel plans, but at least he's snowed in with the gorgeous elementary school art teacher that lives directly across from him.
