Logan can feel them watching him as he yanks the box of cigarettes out of his back pocket. It feels good to be wanted. He’s not a weapon to them, or at least not to Vanessa. And the way Wade feels about his weapons, well, Logan doesn’t really mind being a weapon to him. He nocks the cigarette in his mouth, fishes around for his lighter, and flicks it open one handed.
It’s funny. He does this more times a day than any human should be able to withstand without dying of seven different types of cancer. To him it’s a familiar motion, the muscle memory grounding and getting him out of his head. But even with his eyes closed on a deep inhale, he can feel them looking at him. Wanting him. And it’s the same way he’s been wanted before and wherever his Scott and Jean are, they at least have each other and that maybe makes it okay to want this.
(He wonders if this universe’s Scott and Jean wanted him like that. He wonders if this Logan ever found out what happened in his past. For the first time since being here, he kind of wants to find out.)
Logan exhales, eyes slipping half open to land right on Vanessa. “How much blood are you willing to get on your furniture, sweetheart?”

Scott didn’t like the way the new Wolverine was looking at him.
It was a look of disbelief, first and foremost. What with the way he was clutching Wade Wilson’s hand, it could have even been apprehension. But there was a small touch of something else in his eyes. What it was, Scott couldn’t tell.
Logan had always had these big, elaborate emotions. He laughed loud and screamed louder. But every so often he’d act a certain way that Scott just couldn’t figure out.
Or, Scott can't figure out the new Logan, and he doesn't like it.
