Summary

Sect Leader Jin is perceptive enough to notice that his uncle is suffering in silence, and capable enough to come up with a solution: learn an instrument to soothe him.
Despite only recently coming out of seclusion and remaining scarred by his part in the death of his sworn brothers, Lan Xichen's feelings for Sect Leader Jiang were enough to push him to play the flute for him and teach Jin Rulan how to do so. The only problem is...his music seems to be affecting Jiang Wanyin in a harmful way that brings back Lan Xichen's trauma.

Lan Xichen pulls back to smile and—with what seems to be well-practiced dexterity—lifts Jiang Cheng and turns him around so he’s sitting backwards on his lap, finally allowing (forcing, really) Jiang Cheng to see the other two men in the room.
His scalp goes numb at the sight.
It’s Jiang Cheng’s birthday and he’s stuck at a discussion conference in Lanling. Worse, Jin Guangyao has
demandedrequested that they speak about something in private.Except…why are Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue also here? And why are they all drinking wine?
