“Unless you're here to kill me,” Agatha muttered, not looking up from her books, “I really don't care.”
“See, that's the thing.” Rio's voice took on an oddly gleeful tone. “I can't kill anyone right now. I quit.”
That got Agatha's attention. Her head snapped up, eyes narrowing as she took in Rio's appearance. Death looked... different. Still draped in her usual black attire, but there was something more solid about her presence. More... mortal.
“You what?”
“Quit! Resigned. Took early retirement. Put in my two weeks' notice, whatever. Except I didn't actually give notice, I just stopped showing up.” Rio beamed.
In which Death retires.

After Agatha claws her way out of the Scarlet Witch’s distorted spell, vulnerable and weak and shattered, Rio picks her wife up and takes her home, like she’s a stray cat she’s saving from the streets. She scratches and spits and fights the entire time. Death loves her all the more for it.
aka: an au where our two semi-divorced disaster lesbian witches sort out their shit, deep in the new england woods, while one of them recovers from a traumatic mind-control spell and the other is an immortal cosmic entity struggling with the idea of letting go.
