Summary
It was simple. Ronan didn't like Adam living somewhere that wasn't the Barns, or St. Agnes, or Ronan's car or Ronan's bed. Homes that were within Ronan's reach, in one way or another.
Adam had looked two-toned all summer, studying glossy Harvard brochures and less glossy tuition and fee statements, oscillating between pre-disappointed and anticipatory. Suspended in something—in what, Ronan hadn't really known.
"I'm trying to be less pessimistic," Adam had said repeatedly. Something about embarking on a new chapter of his life.
He never smiled as he said it, and it always sounded like a lie, the kind that charmed Ronan in its familiar cynicism. Ronan felt like he was more honest in his fear of what came next. That was very different from speaking it aloud.

Summary
Oh, God.
He slammed the book close, took a moment to compose himself, then reopened it. It wasn’t better the second time. Any worries about his panic disappearing were nullified. His heart hammered beneath the word Squash on his shirt.
It was a picture of him and Ronan kissing.
Suddenly, Ronan’s behavior from before recontextualized in his brain, shifting to form a truth that really should have been clear from the beginning: they were together together.
Oh, God, Adam thought for a second time.
