He leans closer to Nick, smiling at the coolness of Nick’s pendant brushing against his shoulder as Nick curves towards him too; the bowing of two trees growing towards each other instead of the sun, like salvation and vitality is found within the other. “We said forever, right?”
Charlie swears he hears Nick’s heart kick up a beat as intones softly, “Yeah, baby. Forever.”
Charlie turns to looks at Nick and thinks of that James Baldwin quote that warms him like the golden rays of the last of summer's sunshine:
"Love him and let him love you. Do you think anything else under heaven really matters?"
charlie and nick met on hinge and fell in love. life hasn't been perfect, but it didn't have to be. they love each other. this is their happy ending.
