Summary
In the wake of Uther's unexpected death, and Morgana's subsequent alliance with Odin, Arthur struggles with feeling unprepared to bear the mantle of King. Fearful for Camelot's future, he sees no choice but to swallow his distaste for Cenred and visit Essetir in order to seek an alliance with him. Arthur is utterly horrified when Cenred offers him a defiant, young prisoner, controlled by an iron collar, as 'entertainment' on the first night of his visit, an entertainment he is expected to enjoy. Arthur is frustrated and disheartened by Cenred’s crudeness and disrespect, but continues to visit, trying to win Cenred round. The only bright point in his visits is the intriguing young prisoner, with whom Arthur is forming an unexpectedly close bond, but one that risks being dangerous for both of them.

In doing so, Morgana planned to show Arthur all that he was, except… what if he didn’t experience the disgust she expected? What if Arthur realised all that he had missed?
What if… Merlin suffered only for everything to change upon his rescue?

Summary
At twenty-seven years old, Arthur is living in a new area, trying to make friends and trying to sort his life out. After confiding in Merlin that he has no sexual experience, Merlin offers him a 'friends with benefits' situation, which Arthur readily accepts.
Of course, nothing is ever so simple, and soon all bets are on as to when they will realise exactly what it is they have and whether they will choose to keep it.
