Summary
The Xavier Institute for the Gifted operates in secret to train young mutants in the use of their powers. So far, there are only a few students on the roll but Professor Charles Xavier expects that number to grow quickly. The general public is so far unaware of the existence of mutants but an increasing number of incidents is making it difficult to continue to hide that fact. Xavier is preparing for this eventuality, investing in creating technology and transportation that will allow him to effectively find mutants in need on a global basis.
Somewhat to his chagrin, this means that his house is going to become increasingly full of teenagers with superpowers. With mutant angst. And teen angst. And if Xavier is a little chagrined about this, his gardener/bodyguard/confidant/enforcer Logan is going to be even more so. Those damn kids are going to totally ruin the front lawn, he just knows it.
Damn kids.
He's also got suspicions that Charles isn't the only person looking to recruit young mutants.
In the first chapter, Kitty Pryde shows up at the school for her first day, worried about being a weirdo. She will soon learn that, sure she is, but so is everyone else.

Summary
This is a rewrite (or a fic inspired by) the storyline in the 2009/2010 X-Men Forever series by Chris Claremont where Rogue and Kurt switch powers. Some events in the fic are very similar to the original comic, but most of this is canon divergent.
