Summary
Sakura Haruka, the king of never backing down from a challenge, grits his teeth and sits face to face with the basil patch. “What do I do with them?” He looks stupid like that - but he always looks stupid, Sugishita thinks.
“Are you five? Water them.”
Sakura holds his hand out for a watering can.
“Not today, stupid. I’ve already done that.”
Sakura snaps his hand back into a fist and looks away.
“You’d know that if you got out of your head for two seconds.”
This brings Sakura two steps closer to starting a physical altercation. He doesn’t, for whatever reason, and instead grits out, “I don’t know what to get for Tsubaki-senpai’s birthday.”

In other words, it takes Sugishita and Sakura a whole afternoon of shopping for Tsubaki’s birthday present to realize they’re on a date - a real date with real feelings.

Silence. Then a sigh. “Context?”
“Uh. I may have convinced my sister that we were dating?”
“And?”
“And now she wants to meet him, so I’m actually supposed to be calling him to invite him right now.”
Sakusa pauses. “You’re an idiot. I can see him doing either very well or very poorly with that. How long would he be staying for?”
Atsumu groans. “I know. Just like. A week.”
“Just call him. Don’t tell him you’re supposed to be dating.”
“Then how are we supposed to be a better couple than Osamu and Akaashi?”
“Miya.” Sakusa’s exasperation is passing into dangerous levels. “Just flirt with him like you always do; you’ll be fine.”

The bastard hangs up on him. So much for helping your best friend in his time of need.-
Atsumu catches Osamu and Akaashi PDA-ing at a Christmas party and turns it into a competition. Hinata is just happy to be here.

After two full minutes of cackling that occasionally lapsed into silence for gasps of air, Atsumu regains enough composure to continue the conversation. “Sorry, Samu, I didn’t quite hear you.”
“No. We are not playing this game.” Osamu is still holding the wedding invitation in his hands, staring blankly at it so the words blur together.
Atsumu sighs, and Osamu can hear the smirk in it. “So you didn’t know they were together.”
“No.”
“Ya stupid?”
“Apparently.”Osamu finds out about Bokuaka's relationship by receiving their wedding invite in the mail... an existential crisis ensues.
**this is not an osaaka fic, they're just best friends and osamu is a bit dense
