“All those years on the road I spent looking for a home? That was just me praying and hoping Maddie would come find me. Not necessarily to go back to Hershey or Boston with her, but to be with her because at that point she was the only home I knew.”
“Eddie, this,” Buck waves his hands around as if showcasing the house, “this is Chris’ home, the one you guys built together. I promise you, he wants to come home, because you are his home. He wants you to fight for him, come on Eds, you have to give him a choice.”
Buck is basically pleading with Eddie at this point.
Eddie’s voice is quiet when he speaks up, “But what if I give him the choice and he chooses to stay with his grandparents, what if I give him the choice and I’m not one of them?”

Eddie doesn’t remember the last time he felt this free, he’s not sure he’s ever felt this free. His entire life has been one obligation after another; he’s never had the time to just be himself, to enjoy himself. He’s on his third listen through of “Old Time Rock & Roll" when he hears the knock on the door.
He knows it’s Buck, he always knows when it’s Buck. He does a courtesy check to make sure it’s actually Buck, he is still pantsless.
Opening the door Eddie immediately knows something’s wrong, moreover that Buck doesn’t want to talk about whatever’s wrong, at least not yet. They sit on the couch in silence and sip their first of many beers of the night, “Old Time Rock & Roll” plays twice over before one of them finally says a word.
“Why aren’t you wearing pants?” Buck’s tone is dead serious and all Eddie wants to do is laugh.
