Summary
Waverly Earp is a brand-new freshman at Purgatory College, and her roommate/best friend of nearly 10 years, Chrissy Nedley, has miraculously convinced her to try out for the school’s novice rowing team. Despite knowing absolutely nothing about the sport, Waverly decides to give it a shot. Joining a team could help her acclimate to her new campus life and make some new friends. She shortly finds reason to thank her best friend for forcing her to try something new. That reason may or may not be senior, varsity team captain, Nicole Haught, who catches her eye almost immediately.

Every Wednesday, Waverly Earp would spend just a little extra time touching up her makeup before her weekly video conference with the east coast team. She’d swear she just wanted to make a good impression; however, if anyone ever were to pay even the slightest bit of attention to Waverly’s mannerisms within that thirty minute window, it would be quite obvious how particularly engaged she would look whenever Nicole Haught from Boston spoke.
Little did she know, the girl from Boston may have been feeling a similar kind of way about her west coast colleague.
