Saw @hood-ex on Tumblr talking about how older Bruce being forced to interact with young Dick Grayson is always so good, specifically "the nostalgia factor is always so good" and immediately thought three things:
1. Yeah, same. Love this trope to bits
2. Wait, wouldn't the nostalgia factor work the other way too?
3. I have to write grown man Dick and 20 something Bruce right now immediately. So, Cass Tim and Bruce are up to some dastardly deeds (for justice) and Bruce is reverted to a previous version. Local teens call in the big gun (Nightwing). You know how this song goes (cautious, radical hope that the future is not as unlivable as your intrusive thoughts insist)

Summary
A DICK GRAYSON-CENTRIC, CANON DIVERGENT AU
WHAT IF after Bruce fired Dick, he didn’t become Nightwing.
WHAT IF he decided enough was enough, and he’d been in this business for too long.
WHAT IF he decided he didn’t want to be a hero anymore.Dick Grayson, freshly fired from Robin, had no idea what to do with his life now that he wasn’t Robin anymore. Now that the name his mother had bestowed upon him was ripped away from him. Here he was, in a small apartment in the middle of Gotham with no plan for his future.
Join him as he figures out how to live his life as an ex-hero, gets a ton of siblings and rips Bruce (and Batman) a new one.

Summary
“Chim. Weird question?”
Chimney’s chair creaks. Buck cranes his head over the back of the couch and watches him straighten up, pop his back, close the folder.
“You only ever ask me weird questions,” he says, and then crosses the loft to sit in one of the armchairs. He levels Buck with a look that’s way too knowing for the amount of words they’ve exchanged. “What’s up?”
He takes a breath.
“What does it feel like to be a dad?”
in which buck is used to wanting things he's not allowed to have; it's just that he never thought being a father would be one of them.

Summary
So, Dick hadn’t actually died. Big deal, Steph hadn’t either. Neither had Bruce. Hell, sometimes Cass just fucked off for a couple of months only to show up for a random Sunday dinner. It stung, sure, but Jason held no illusions about his life expectancy, about any of their life expectancies. He was bitter, he was upset, he felt betrayed, but he didn’t have time to waste hating his brother, he’d done that enough already.
Five times the Bats noticed something new about post-Spyral Dick and one time they found out the truth.

I love Cass so fucking much. Jason makes me want to cry in this honestly they all do. They’re all so autistic. Batfam finds out about spyral.
