Billy drove and drove and drove. He watched the autumn leaves fly up under the tires from the rearview mirror. He flipped off the Leaving Hawkins, Come Again Soon sign as they passed it, and he didn't stop driving. It’s almost like he can pretend that this is the last time. The last time he’ll ever see it, because he’s getting the fuck out. He’s taking Max and they’re leaving, and he’ll never have to see his dad again, he won’t have to freeze his ass off in November, for fuck’s sake, he won’t have to smell the rotting decay of Indiana that’ll probably only go away once everything freezes over, and he won’t have to see Steve Harrington’s stupid glowering frown everytime Billy tried to have a little fun.
