Jon grins. “It’s the biromanticism, Melanie. It gives me and Georgie the same taste.”
At this, Melanie sputters. “Nuh-uh. No way. Absolutely no way. Your bad choices are the results of your own bad opinions. Don’t bring me into it.”

MARTIN: (bitter, reminiscent of a cup of black tea that’s been steeping, forgotten, for two hours) I don’t.
TIM: Wellll... It’s more that I hope they’re having a good time, until something about the way Sasha talks reminds Jon of his grandmother, and the thought is so awful that he starts wishing it weren’t a date.

Georgie tells the story of how she lost her fear again, this time to a better audience.
written for The Magnus Archives Hurt/Comfort Week, Day 6 Prompt: Cradled
-"God,” Georgie groans. “Why is this so hard?”
“Probably because talking sucks,” Melanie says. Georgie laughs, and Melanie adds, “I could... I could hug you while you told me? If that- Would that help?”
Georgie considers it, thinks about burying her face in the scent of Melanie’s citrus shampoo, so different from the antiseptic and decay of the Oxford medical building, thinks about feeling the strength of Melanie’s arms around her as she whispers out her story. “Yeah. Maybe.”Series

GEORGIE: Melanie... it’s okay. Maybe. It’s... well, it’s Jon. And Martin. Or, at least, things that look like them.
MELANIE: Are their fingers all long and pointy?
GEORGIE: Not that I can tell.

Summary
Jon spent the first few years of his life bathed in the rosewater-saffron scent of language. He does not remember his father, scarcely remembers his mother’s face, but he remembers her voice, dripping honeyed and sweet like warm tea and nabat and singing lullabies the color of roses, remembers not the words she said but the sounds they made, the shape of them in her voice, the weight of them in his ears. Jon spent the first few years of their life with twin languages on their tongue, twin voices in their ear, long before Beholding claimed them and gave them hundreds.
Or, a look at Jonathan Sims, language, culture, and Beholding.
Previously participated in the campaign to raise awareness and start making changes to the OTW's long history of racism. more info here!

Summary
A few days have passed since that moment, not nearly enough to stop my treacherous mind from digging it out of its file, studying it like I’d study a potential target. I squint through the darkness of the night and the haze of my memory in an attempt to recall the expression on Juno’s face. What I come up with, time and time again, is star-struck. His lips slightly agape, his posture open, vulnerable. It’d be ridiculously easy to push him over and watch him shatter on the floor like an expensive vase. I know what I saw, and yet I still find myself thinking back, looking for more.

Summary
“Oh, I get it,” Melanie says to her. “It all makes sense now! You know, for the record, I was completely wrong about you, too. Like, I thought you didn’t have a sense of humour: I could never get you to laugh, no matter what I did. You were just absolutely uncharmable.”
“Hey!” says Georgie, offended, and hits her clumsily across the arm, “Don’t be rude! I make you laugh all the time.”
“You do,” says Melanie, and she sounds buzzed and completely fond in a way that sets Georgie’s stomach rolling.
