Summary
'you read for a while, your heart caught in your throat and you have to pause, a prayer, when you read, 'nature held me close and seemed to find no fault with me.' the earth is here for you to become, and there is nothing wrong with you, and your wants. the earth wants, itself. all of it exists, with you; the worms and the wolves and the moss and the salt and the way your fingers warm, painful and red, at first, in the blast of the car heater, but then steady, the sting fading as you drive home.'

Summary
In one world, there’s a one bedroom apartment in the Swiss Alps. In another, there’s a neutral gray sedan with a good petrol mileage and OCS safe-houses scattered across Europe.
In both, there’s Beatrice and there’s Ava.
In both, that’s enough.

Summary
Ava makes a vow that she will be the last Warrior Nun. She means it. She’s never been so certain. But she forgets Beatrice’s example: that all vows are unshakeable until someone gives you reason to question your very foundations. That love can be reason enough.
(Or: Ava would die for Beatrice, but surviving is sometimes just as painful. And it is not the same as living.)
