Peter stares at him, eyes wide. Mr. Harrington stares back.
“I, uh, there’s an attack downtown and I..?”
“Go,” Mr. Harrington says with all the exasperation of teaching a high school vigilante and, in turn, breaking just about every single school rule there ever is. “I’ll cover for you.”
“Please tell Ms. Warren I’m sorry about missing her test next period and that I promise I’ll—”
“Peter,” Mr. Harrington says. “I’ll handle the academics. You go save the world.”

“I want Peter,” Michelle sobbed. With her daughter out of the room, Michelle could let her strong façade break once again.
“I know, honey. I know,” May sniffed and leaned down to hug Michelle.
She couldn’t even bother to stop the new wave of crying that washed over her. Michelle sobbed loudly as she hid her face into Peter’s shirt again, a side part of her glad she didn’t even bother to put some make-up with how constant her face was wet with her own tears.
It had been like that since the moment Peter died in her arms.
