"Thank you for coming all this way," Wright said more gently, closing the door behind them and gesturing for Edgeworth to follow him into the reception area. "And thank you for picking up the case - you didn't have to do that, but I'm grateful. Gumshoe gave me a basic rundown on where things are at, and I'm trying to catch up so I can take this off your hands as soon as possible." He reached out to take the pile of papers from Edgeworth, who attempted to pass them over to him, but somehow they collided in the middle and documents spilled everywhere, scattering over the floor.
"Oh, shit, let me get those!" Wright said, bending down to start gathering them up. Miles felt like the world was wavering around him, the relief of seeing Wright up and out of the hospital, the stress of the last day and a half, the exhaustion suddenly all combining to make his knees feel weak. Somehow this was the last straw, the one little thing that was just too much for him to bear and he sat down heavily on the couch, his head in his hands.
