Summary
"Don't worry," a gruff voice sounds out from a few feet away. Fifteen-year-old Nakahara Chuuya is glaring up at him, tugging at his own faded jacket and his sweat-soaked hair, the colour of cracked flesh. "I feel the same way."
In that instant, summer swamps Dazai like a bridal veil.
"Heh," The beginnings of an amused laugh bubbles in his throat. It stands on shaky legs, a butterfly fluttering its wings for the first time–– it's like time had stopped, and every ray of light shatters simultaneously against the panes of his exposed skin. It feels a little like rebirth. "Look at us getting along so well. That's what makes me love you!"

Alternatively: Dazai Osamu is the furthest thing from a man of principle one can possibly imagine. But if he could save the world by carrying a book of ideals, there would be only one cheesy line printed on the front cover.

Summary
At fourteen, Dazai is the one to find Chuuya after the lab explosion.

He watches Chuuya fall asleep, slow and soft, in small bits. He is so beautiful, and he is mine. All mine.
I am the first person he smiled at.
I am the first person who said his name.
I am the first person who has held him like this.
He is mine. He will always be mine now, after these things.
Dazai thinks, for a moment, that he might not ever get to feel things, or see the world the way most people do, or find a reason to live. But he can live for this, for him. For this boy. He does not care about birds or parks or trees or people, does not feel all that much when he sees the sunrise or sunset or the stars and the moon. He does not like dogs or children. He does not like the world.
But he likes Chuuya. He likes the way Chuuya looks when he is looking at all these things.

Summary
At 2AM, pummelled by a ravenous storm and wanting nothing more than to be cozied up in his apartment with Chuuya, Dazai hears the frightened wails of a small baby late into the night.
Barely wrapped in a brown towel, sobbing for the comfort of her mother, Dazai picks up this tiny baby from the sodden cardboard box- and, well… Chuuya always loved his surprises~
After finding a baby abandoned in a storm, Dazai and Chuuya provide a temporary residence until they can figure out what the hell is going on.

Summary
In the midst of Dazai's raided apartment, locked in a safe only Chuuya could open was a child, with large bright eyes and auburn hair. Before he knew it, Chuuya found himself looking after his ex's child, whose parentage he himself wasn't too certain about and whose sole guardian is currently unconscious in a hospital room.
