Arven pauses. He remembers all the times as a child that he would threaten to run away, to flee with his Maschiff and never look back. And how every time he said he would, he'd come back in tears. He thought about the years he spent alone once his father permanently moved into the Great Crater. He thought of how he had to learn to fend for himself.
He meets her gaze and looks into her eyes. The expectant look she gives him tugs on his heart.
"No, never," he lies through his teeth, "why?"
