Summary
Eddie hears Steve turn off the shower and lays down on his side on the bed with his head propped up against his hand.
Steve walks out of the bathroom with sweatpants low on his waist and a towel around his shoulders. Eddie takes a moment to stare appreciatively at his damp chest before looking up into Steve’s eyes and giving him an exaggerated wink and eyebrow waggle.
Steve laughs, big and loud, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
“Is this my final Christmas gift?” He asks, looking Eddie over with molten eyes.

Summary
As a shiver runs down his spine, Steve thinks the last two have the right idea so he looks for the stand selling hot beverages. He stands in line, tuning out the people asking for hot chocolate, mulled wine, and apple cider.
“What can I get you?” The woman asks the guy directly in front of Steve.
“Greetings, fair lady,” he says with a dramatic flourish of his hand. “Might I have a warm draught of spiced cocoa, sweetened and brewed with hot water?”
Both Steve and the woman stare blankly at the guy, who laughs and asks for a hot chocolate.
While the woman prepares the drink, Steve looks him over. The moment he turns around to dig in his back pocket for his wallet, Steve recognizes him.

Summary
After changing out of his Christmas sweater, Steve falls back into bed, burrowing his face into his pillow with a groan. The mattress dips when Eddie sits next to him, his back against the headboard. Steve blinks one eye open. “You don’t have to stay, I’m–”
“–in no condition to be alone right now,” Eddie finishes, rolling his eyes.

Thirty minutes later there’s a knock on the door, and after whining about how this is Wayne’s guest so he should be the one to get the door, Eddie sighs and opens it to reveal-
“Steve Harrington?” Eddie shakes off the shock and flashes him a mocking grin. “Well, well, well, what are you doing on the wrong side of town, Your Highness? Did you get lost?”
The title makes Steve’s nose wrinkle but he lets it slide. “Actually, your uncle invited me.”
Eddie’s jaw drops. “You’re our guest?”
With a shrug, Steve makes a ta-da! gesture. Eddie stares blankly at him.

Summary
But Eddie doesn’t hear what Chrissy has to say because in that moment he knocks over a pyramid of toys and faceplants amidst the boxes, his phone and his gifts flying from his hands.
Eddie groans, both from the pain and the embarrassment. He can feel his face already starting to burn and he seriously considers staying there, buried in toys, forever.
At least until someone says, “Christ, are you okay?” and Eddie has no choice but to roll over only to immediately wish he didn’t when he sees Steve leaning over him.
“I’m fine,” he mutters. “What are you doing here?”
Steve offers Eddie his hand, his eyebrow raised in amusement. “Helping you?”
“I mean, here,” Eddie gestures around them. “You aren’t supposed to be working today.”

Riches runs his finger over the cut on Eddie’s cheek, healed after a week in the Derry County Hospital but still pink with its newness. They’re 43 and he wonders how he ever could have forgotten that face; he vows he won’t, not ever again. His throat feels too dry and he doesn’t think he’ll feel the overwhelming relief of leaving their past behind them until they’re far, far away from the town.
Although maybe, he thinks, there are some things Richie doesn’t want to leave in his past.
