“Shi…” Saki whines, drawing the vowel out long, her voice plaintive and needy. The warmth and soft pressure of her body is suddenly too much; Shiho, however, can't pull away, the park bench’s table pinning her in place, head spinning with slight vertigo. Her hands feel huge and unwieldy—the right tightens to a white-knuckle around the bottle, and the left hovers midair by Saki’s stomach.

The water looked back with two wide, yellow eyes… and then four, and then six, eight, ten, and then too many to count. And then, as Rolan stood there and stared, a hand crept from the water’s depths and clawed into the grass. At least, he thought it was a hand—it was too sinewy, too many-fingered, too much like an anatomical figure of tendons and muscles, to be quite recognizable as it dripped brackish, reddish water onto the ground mere inches away from Rolan’s sneakers.

They're still in almost-pristine condition, aside from the blood staining the neck of the chestplate on the left side of the collar. Grian lays them down across the disturbed earth, carefully adjusting them until he's satisfied.
