The next morning he ended up in the firehouse, on the couch opposite Hen, who only dealt with his staring for a minute before asking what was wrong. Eddie tried to wave her off, but Hen was insistent and then he was spilling his guts to her. The Catholic guilt, or that’s what the internet had called it, had been eating him up forever. His search for the perfect wife and mother, how unfair it was to the women, but also to himself and Chris. How he felt the need to be perfect pressing on his shoulders every second of his life. How maybe his relationship with Shannon had failed because he had never been attracted to women to begin with, there were just these expectations. Hen stayed quiet the whole time, giving him all her attention and all the room to talk. In the end, it had helped, but the conversation had also given him more to think about.
"You've never been attracted to men, and now not to women either. Have you ever looked into aromanticism or asexuality?" Hen had uttered quietly, looking at him with sympathy but also pity.

“How about you stay here and I’ll turn the coffee machine on so that when you finally get yourself out of bed you’ll have a cup waiting for you?” Buck proposes, a smile starting to form on his face as Eddie tries to cuddle even closer.
“Not the same, the bed needs you in it.” His voice is muffled by the shirt Buck wearing, Buck laughs and Eddie doesn’t deny himself from squeezing the other man tighter.
“Will a kiss get you out of bed?” Eddie shoots up from where he was hidden behind Buck’s back at the question, he narrows his eyes at his boyfriend. “Colour?”
Buck laughs as he turns around, towards Eddie, he slides his hands across the other’s cheeks feeling the morning stubble. “Green or I wouldn’t have asked dumbass.”

Eddie, I’m smart, I have a college degree in history. I finished it during my travels. But I’m still the punchline of the jokes in the fire station. It’s just not what they want.” His shoulders slump down, and he crosses his arms in a way to hug and comfort himself.
But Eddie shows him that he is; what they want.
