Summary
Morgana has taken Prince Arthur and demanded Uther's life for his safe return. Uther will not sacrifice himself willingly, and will instead find someone else to pay the price.
There is only one person that Morgana hates as much as Uther-- the sorcerer of prophecy, Emrys. If Uther can find him, he can exchange Emrys for his son's life instead.
He begins his journey with a group of men, and Arthur's irritating servant, Merlin.

Summary
Arthur could see his father glaring down - face red and eyes narrowed as he looked at Merlin with clear distaste.
"Once this over, sorcerer...I’ll burn you."
"You’ve already tried that," Merlin’s voice answered and Arthur had to bite his fist to keep from making any noise. “You need to accept you can’t kill me… Hand me that blanket, please.”
“I’m sure there must be some method… Beheading?”
“No, we tried that.”
“Hanging?”
“I just sort of... Swung there, remember?”
There was another pause.
“I should have made you keep that dragon below the castle so I could feed you to it.”
“Kilgharrah? He won’t eat me, but if you want to torture me than making me listen to his nonsense for an hour might do it.” Merlin said and there was a soft sigh from the other end of the room. “I’m glad you agreed to help me though. Usually I have to do the grunt work of saving Arthur myself.”
“I can’t wait to kill you.”
Or
Uther finds out about Merlin’s magic, but can’t seem to kill him. Merlin is just trying to protect Arthur. They become a begrudgingly effective duo. Arthur doesn't understand why they think he isn't noticing this.

“Because I’ve read all about it.”
Theo didn’t smile at her, but it was a near thing. “Maybe because there’s nothing to know about,” he said.
Natasha studied his back for a long moment before humming and getting up. “Maybe,” she agreed.

Summary
“Don't tell me you were this nonchalant when you were learning how to drive,” says Liam through his teeth over the rumble of the engine idling.
“The Doctors got me a truck and then told me to drive to Beacon Hills and be back to the lab by nightfall or they’d take another kidney. I don’t know about you, but I rather prefer having a kidney. So what do you know, I learned how to drive real quick.”
“Wait--Are you implying that you only have one kidney? Or did they take a kidney and replace it, and you’re referring to your second kidney, which may or may not be your original one, which I don’t even know how that would work because--”
“Step on the fucking gas, Dunbar.”
Theo moves as if to swat at Liam’s arm, and Liam yelps and stomps on the gas so the truck lurches forward and then teeters to a halt an impressive twelve feet down the street.
“Wow, you’ve taken us out of state,” Theo says sarcastically. “Hooray.”

Or: Liam fakes not knowing how to drive so Theo will give him lessons and they can spend more time together. Predictably, his plan backfires.

Summary
He's in the middle of dumping out the new toothpaste tube from its box so he can slide the ring box in, when he becomes aware of the beating of Theo's heart nearby all too late. The next thing he knows, Theo's pushing the bathroom door open wider and blinking at him owlishly, the picture of morning glory and frankly ridiculous handsomeness at this hour.
Liam freezes.
"Liam," Theo says, brows furrowed, voice raspy. "What are you doing?"
Looking back, it's all Liam's face that gives everything away. The toothpaste box looks innocuous enough in his hands, but combined with the wash of pure terror on his face and the next words that come tumbling out of his mouth, it's all over.
"I'm pregnant!" Liam blurts out.

In which Liam is just as bad at cover stories as he is at hiding the secret engagement ring for Theo.
