Summary
Bucky tries to focus his hazy vision and when it clears, he sees Zemo standing over the obliterated body of a large man. There is blood everywhere. On the walls and the ceiling of this sterile, little, windowless cell. Bathed in harsh fluorescent light Zemo is absolutely drenched in blood, and it drips off him in steady streams. Bucky forces his weak legs to move him forward into the cell and is hit by another scent, the stench of an alpha in pre-rut. The same burning gasoline smell that he followed here. Bucky understands instantly what happened here. HYDRA sent some fucking alpha piece of shit to rape Zemo. Maybe even force a bond to be even more sadistic. But it seems that Zemo has fought back and won. Bucky is so impressed with this that he nearly comes in his tactical pants at the very thought of Zemo competently defending himself. But should he really be surprised? Zemo is a soldier after all. He may be an omega, but that had never hindered his mad plans before.

Summary
A shadow lurking in the corner of his eye. A passerby gone too quickly to be properly seen. A presence lingering just beyond the reach of his consciousness, relegated to dreams that slip through his fingertips and leave him empty in the aftermath.
For James Buchanan Barnes, emptiness was one of his few constants. Prevailing and all-consuming, it sat like an abyss in the center of his soul, where his old self had once been. Nothing remained of that life now.
But somewhere in its depths, there was movement. Bucky could feel it writhe, far out reach. He had spent a decade reaching for it, and what little he got did not bode well.
All signs pointed to a tragedy.

Summary
After being granted a parole he didn’t want, Zemo is confined to living with James as his guardian during his ‘transitional period’, as the judge called it. James had volunteered for the task, which only added to the nonsensical nature of the situation. Weeks go by, and Zemo grows more and more restless.
The catalyst for his finally breaking beneath the pressure? James telling him that he loves him.
Zemo is lost, and he would do anything to rid himself of that feeling. So, he runs.

Summary
Baron Helmut Zemo has been alone on the Raft for several years after the last clandestine mission he took with Wilson and Barnes. Lonely and in existential stasis, he spends his time imagining stars on the ceiling of his cell and reliving vignettes of memory in his dreams. That is, until an unfamiliar woman comes to him with a proposal—that he help the C.I.A. in the recovery of an escaped fugitive outside the States. Unimpressed with the notion, his first impulse is to refuse…that is, until a very familiar emissary comes to ask instead.
Bucky Barnes has accepted the fact that for now he’s on loan to whatever government agency needs him in return for continued support of his freedom. When the Director of the C.I.A. asks him to again work with Baron Zemo on a mission to find a rogue Soviet super soldier in the wilderness of Canada, he’s at first reluctant…but only until he reminds himself that at least Zemo can appreciate aspects of him which have left him unable to relate to most civilians. It kills him to admit, but goddamn it…Zemo knows him, and right now that’s all Bucky wants in the world.

Inspired by the following prompt posted by Sparcina on the winterbaron server: "Courtship by Tea - So there's this very old and almost lost tradition in Sokovia of asking someone's hand by making tea, pouring only one cup, and taking the first sip before handing it over for the other person to drink from it. Bucky doesn't know anything about it (obviously), but one day Zemo is really getting on his nerves, so Bucky makes him tea (the worst tea he can manage, he even heats the water in the microwave), pours a single cup, drinks from it very loudly and shoves it at Zemo, who almost drops it because technically Bucky just asked to marry him."
Bored, Zemo decides to play a little, harmless game. What could possibly go wrong?

Bucky knows what it means to have had “an aptitude for sniping” noted down in his file, back in the war. He was conflicted enough doing that kind of work when Steve needed it. Being dragged back into it now, by his government, is the last thing he wants. Especially with Zemo there to witness it, and worse, to understand it.
