Summary
This is the story of the tv series as a novel. The dialog follows the series, but there are also new scenes filling the gaps in the story and some are in a different order. I wanted to capture the spirit of White Collar and the friendship between Peter and Neal. Part one tells the story from Peter's and Neal's first meeting to the end of episode one, including when Neal is arrested for the first time.

Summary
Neal leans against his desk behind Peter, chaining paper clips together and looking a bit pleased to be fought over.
“It’s out of my control on this one, Burke,” Hughes says, “They’ve gone through the proper channels, I can’t override it any more than you. If Wirth and Iyengar say they need Caffrey on their case, they get him. It’s as simple as that.”
“But Neal works in White Collar.”
“Yes, but he can be reassigned to meet needs. We have as much a right to him as any division does.”
“That’s ridiculous.”
“Don’t worry about it, Hughes,” Neal chimes in; he drops the line of paper clips down into a pile below his hand. “Peter here’s worried that I might have too much fun over in Organized Crime and decide to never come back to him.”
It's been three months since Neal ran. Now Peter is hoping that Special Agent James Wirth knows something that he doesn't.

Summary

In the two years following Elizabeth Burke’s kidnapping and her safe recovery, Peter has cut Neal out of his life, unwilling to forgive his part in Elizabeth’s trauma or the betrayal of their own partnership. The story begins with Neal’s successful completion of his work-release, and he says goodbye to Peter. It is a moment of finality. But time passes, some wounds heal and tragedy brings them back together.
