Summary
Ellen’s bags are packed and there’s a shuttle waiting on her, but she lingers in the passenger lounge to go over the schedule with Alec one more time.
“Breakfast at 0700, school by 0800, after school activities until 1700, dinner at 1800, no dessert without evidence of completed homework, bed at 1900.” He repeats faithfully. “Baths every night, but three times a week is within acceptable tolerances. If they fight lock them in a room until it’s over or one is dead.”
“You’re going to be fine, Alec.” Ellen presses a kiss to his cheek. He closes his eyes and leans into it.
“I’m going to be fine, Ellen.” He lies.
His kids are the best thing that ever happened to him after his wife, but they’re also tiny hostile aliens who can smell weakness. He’s not going to be fine.

Summary
In an effort to help him adjust to the 21st century (or failing that get him out of his apartment), Fury convinces Steve Rogers to take a small job body guarding a business woman as she attempts to make contact with a notorious fugitive.
There are two minor complications.
The fugitive is Doctor Bruce Banner and he is on the run from the US military, but that's nothing compared to the body he's guarding:
Antonia Stark, CEO of Stark Industries, and (unbeknownst to the public or Steve) Iron Man.

Steve Rogers opens his eyes to the afternoon light.
A woman is sitting in a chair next to his bed. She glances up as he struggles to sit up and says “Hello…” in this husky contralto that is as dark and complicated as a tall glass of stout. She closes her book and places it cover down in her lap, but he can read the spine. It says ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’
He wonders if he’s still dreaming and if that is some bizarre message from his subconscious.

Wei Ying collapses to cross-legged with a bounce that shakes the whole couch, barely managing to do it without landing on Lan Zhan’s legs. (She does manage it, though, because she’s a genius.) She pauses long enough to evaluate her options and then flings herself basically into Lan Zhan’s lap, wiggling around and flailing annoyingly and actively taking up as much space as possible. When she’s done she has her head resting on Lan Zhan’s pelvis, arm wrapped around one of Lan Zhan’s thighs where it arcs over her shoulder, and legs draped over the arm of the couch. It’s very warm, and very secure, and extremely comfortable.
It is also easily more intimate than they’ve ever been before (not counting the sock wrestling), which probably breaks at least five Rules (Wei Ying will not be listing which ones), and Wei Ying can feel her heartbeat pounding nervously in her throat.
Or: A normal afternoon, a shared couch, and a surprise game of Ultimate Gay Chicken.

Summary
Wei Wuxian remembers, a long time ago in basically another life, a college party where he managed to bully Lan Wangji into taking a single shot. The Second Jade had gone bleary and fallen asleep on a couch almost immediately. Wei Wuxian figured that in the intervening years his tolerance would have improved, or that a drunk Lan Zhan would immediately be followed by a sleeping Lan Zhan.
This supposition was, as it turns out, incorrect. Grown-ass adult Lan Zhan is, when drunk, something Wei Wuxian can only describe as white girl wasted.
Or: Lan Zhan gets drunk on Capitol Hill. Wei Wuxian isn't supposed to be the responsible one, but by god, he's gonna do it.

Summary
Zhang Chengling knows he hasn’t been dealt the best hand in life, but he’s content where he is now. Living with Zhou Zishu is comforting in a way Chengling cannot describe and could not have imagined back when he was still being shuffled from uncle to uncle. He’s comfortable here--happy, even.
Chengling doesn’t have much to complain about these days. In fact, the only issue troubling him is the increasingly evident realization that his adoptive father’s house husband is an actual mobster.
