The corner of George’s mouth twitches, but he remains firm. “You don’t look like you feel well," he amends.
Bertha struggles to be cared for; George takes care of her anyway.

As she walks further into the house, there’s still no sign of Peter. If he were inside, he would have come to greet them by now. “Where did he go?” Olivia asks aloud, half to Etta and half to herself.
She carries Etta to the living room, intending to make a full loop of the house, but what she finds there stops her in her tracks.

“I just feel…uncomfortable. Like there’s a rock in my shoe, but —” She gestures vaguely to her entire body. “And even after a shower I don’t feel clean and all I want is to watch this movie with you but I can’t relax and it’s really starting to piss me off.”
When she stops speaking she expects Peter’s face to be contorted with pity, but instead he only looks thoughtful. She registers his hand on the back of her head, thumb stroking.
“I could use another shower,” he says.

It’s taking all of her self-control not to laugh now, but this seems like a serious issue to her daughter so she keeps a straight face. “Baby, I know it's awkward but it’s okay if they do. It’s totally normal to have feelings for a friend’s parent.”
