Summary
Some holiday fluff and fun with our favourite ghosts and cats, during their first December post-canon. Written for the Catwin Discord's CATwinter holiday prompt event. <3
This year, it isn’t just Edwin and Charles anymore, hidden away or on the run. They have new friends, freedom from the threat of Hell and Death, and their entire afterlives ahead of them. And speaking of new friends…
“Do you mind if I step out?” he asks to the room at large.
“Did we forget something at the shops?” Charles eyes the office decorations consideringly. “We don’t have a lot of room left.”
Edwin smiles. “It’s not that. I daresay we’ve decorated plenty.” He collects a pair of bags printed with stars and snowflakes. “I merely have a gift to deliver."

Summary
“Have you tried it?” Edwin asks. “The catnip.”
The Cat King hums, pleased. “I did. Very potent. You do good work, not that I expected anything less."
Edwin hesitates, but shyly asks one of the questions he’s been wondering ever since delivering the gift. “What does it feel like? Ghosts, of course, are unable to get intoxicated, and I never had the opportunity while I was alive. I find myself…curious.”
Prowling closer, the Cat King looks down at Edwin. Resolutely Edwin keeps his gaze above the Cat King’s shoulders and not on the chest revealed by his shirt or the strong calves below the hem of his kilt. “I’m a big believer in satisfying curiosity. Did you want to see, sweetheart?”
“See…? Oh.” Edwin swallows as he realizes what the Cat King means. “See you…like that.”
“Mmhmm. Seems a shame for you not to enjoy the fruits of your labour.” He leans forward, planting both hands on the bed on either side of Edwin’s knees. Not touching anywhere, but so close and Edwin is captured by golden cat’s eyes. “See me all soft and loose and warm. Would you enjoy that, Edwin?”
There are many things Edwin wants; the Cat King is more than willing to give them to him.

Summary
A little extra that didn't fit in the main fic!
Niko’s up on her tiptoes looking for a glimpse of Charles or Crystal, but all she sees is Edwin looking conflicted as he presses a kiss to the cat guy’s cheek before running off into the crowd. She loses sight of Edwin almost immediately, but she’s still got a clear view of the cat guy. He looks…confused, as he takes a couple steps after Edwin before stopping. And then he just looks disappointed, and sad. She kind of wants to give him a hug.
He’s fucking disappointed, Thomas pouts as he drifts back toward the bar, trying to decide if another drink will help or hurt. Not just because he’d been hoping to get laid tonight, but because Ghostie was clever and cute and sexy, and taller than Thomas and a little bitchy, and basically hitting every one of Thomas’ buttons in one fascinating package. And then Thomas had to go fuck it all up by being … too much.

Summary
A Halloween party/club night meet-cute! Edwin (reluctantly) joins his friends for a night out, and quickly finds himself the focus of a very handsome man dressed as some sort of cat. Cue clever costumes, flirtatious banter and club dancing.
Through the gap he catches sight of a man lounging indolently against the bar, all attitude and half-bare chest and low-slung waistband, and what appears to be a set of pointed ears atop his head. He is staring straight at Edwin. For one electric moment Edwin’s eyes meet those of the stranger, somehow shining an unearthly gold even in the low club lighting, and the breath catches in his throat. Then the crowd shifts and hides the man from view, and Edwin shakes himself free from the tension and turns back to his friends.

Summary
He was a lawyer looking to pay someone to fool his family into thinking he was in a relationship, he was an out-of-work musician looking for a paying job... Can I make it any more obvious?
“So, I’ll tell you a bit about myself and the job. Then you can decide if you want to stay to answer my questions. It is very important we both are happy with the situation before we continue.” Oh shit, it’s definitely a sex dungeon. Charles thought to himself. Although, not sure I’d mind him tying me up and- Charles shook his head slightly. Focus.
“Right, no problem.” Charles coughed slightly, still thinking about that dungeon.
“So, as I said in the advert: it is a very simple job but it is also highly unusual. I am looking for a companion, you see.”
“Like, someone to shag?” Charles blurted out before he could help himself.
“Not quite. Believe it or not I am actually able to find my own sexual partners without having to pay them.” Edwin quipped and Charles couldn’t quite tell if he’d offended him.

Summary
"I don't like this," Charles declares as soon as Edwin pulls on the closet light. "That greasy tosser's up to something. Getting you alone so he can--"
"Do what, Charles?" Charles clearly means well, yet a note of exasperation creeps into Edwin's tone anyway. "Look, I know last time I… slipped up, but that's all the more reason you can trust my vigilance this time around. Besides, he won't try anything."
"How could you possibly know that, mate?"
"I… I just do."
"I'm flattered that you trust me, Edwin," the Cat King's muffled voice calls from outside the closet. "You probably shouldn't, though."

Summary
"I don't give a toss what you say! Edwin's not getting within a thousand miles of that place again, not even for a second!"
Edwin clamps an unusually hard hand on Charles' shoulder and turns to the Night Nurse. "You had to have known we wouldn't receive this proposition favorably. Why do you need for us to go to Hell?"
The Night Nurse's eyes are narrowed at Charles, her scarlet mouth pinched. "I was about to explain just that, before I was so rudely interrupted…"
"Well get on with it, then," Charles says bluntly, crossing his arms.

Summary
"Hold on, you think I'd turn?" Charles demands.
"Every ghost has a unique trigger, and I can't say I wasn't a little concerned on a few occasions in Port Townsend. Then, with that same look in your eyes just now…"
Edwin isn't wrong; it's not like Charles hadn't been thinking the same thing. But he shakes his head and attempts a comforting grin--Edwin's got too much on his plate to waste time worrying about the one person who's supposed to look out for him. "Don't worry, mate, I'm aces. So how do we find this demonic arsehole?"
-OR-
All ghosts are capable of turning vengeful. When their quarry is revealed to be a demon from Edwin's past, Charles and Edwin learn something important about their own personal triggers.

"No, mate, that's not what I--"
Edwin rises and plants his palms decisively on the desk. "I've never truly committed to your many past attempts to whip me into shape, Charles, but I think I'm finally willing to try it. Genuinely."
Charles blinks, and struggles not to look too disbelieving. "Oh, really? … Brilliant."
-OR-
Ghosts, by nature, are as strong as they want to be. Charles helps Edwin find his motivation, which turns out to be something neither of them expects...
